Property Description

A quintessential New York corner loft, rich in character and scale, located just steps from Union Square at the intersection of 18th Street and Broadway. Residence 501 occupies the coveted southwest corner of the fifth floor within the storied McIntyre Building, a historic property that has recently undergone its first comprehensive façade restoration in over a century. Soaring 12-foot ceilings and eight oversized oak-framed windows flood the home with natural light throughout the day, while custom solar shades provide privacy when desired. The expansive layout offers the authentic proportions and architectural presence that define classic downtown loft living. The open kitchen is appointed with limestone countertops and distinctive Poggenpohl cabinetry, complemented by a premium cooktop and integrated refrigeration. The bathroom features elegant fixtures, a deep soaking tub, Moroccan cement tile flooring, and custom zebrawood cabinetry. The bedroom is enhanced by dramatic, floor-to-ceiling built-in bookcases complete with a library ladder, creating a striking architectural focal point. Refinished oak floors run throughout the residence, further reinforcing the loft’s timeless aesthetic. Additional features include central air conditioning, externally vented kitchen and bath systems, an in-unit washer and dryer, and a private storage closet located in the fifth-floor common hallway. The McIntyre Building operates as a flexible live/work cooperative, offering a rare opportunity to own a true downtown loft in one of Union Square’s most iconic historic buildings.
